Because it's Monday. And if you're anything like me, that little reality comes complete with a long list of to-dos.
So I just want to share a simple little verse. It's one I ran across a couple months ago--it stuck out to me for the first time. And I can't tell you how often I've repeated it since...
The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. ~Exodus 14:14
Just stay calm. Folks, I can't think of three better words to start off a new week. Well, except perhaps "just sleep in." :)
But seriously, I don't know what your day or week looks like...
...maybe you're off to a day job that pays the bills but doesn't quite connect with your passion.
...or you're at home chasing a toddler or staring at heaps of laundry.
...maybe you're frantically preparing for next week's ACFW Conference.
...or you're dealing with frustration about not being able to attend the conference.
Whatever it is, whether you're tied up in knots or even just a teensy bit tangled, you can rest in the fact that you've got a God who's not only watching out for you...He's actually fighting for you.
So let's take a collective breath this Monday morning. Let's stay calm. And walk into this coming week with joy!
What are you looking to God to fight for you in this week?

Thanks for this "God can do it!" post, Melissa.
ReplyDeleteWhat am I looking for God to do this week?
Help me do all I need to do so that I can get on a plane early, early Sunday and meet up with you -- and the rest of the team!
See you soon.
I'm looking to God for the exact same thing this week, Beth. So excited to see you and the rest of the team...SOON! :)
DeleteFabulous verse--thanks. I get on a plane early Thurs. to see other friends in TX before heading to ACFW. Lots to do, this verse helps.
ReplyDeleteAh, you're leaving even earlier than the MBT team, Dee. Hope you enjoy the team with friends!
DeleteI love the simplicity of that verse--just stay calm. So good.
Grammar!! I can't teach it and yet I have to. Ugh!! Am praying that the Lord will show me how to teach it to my students. He is able...I am not.
ReplyDeleteBut He is there for me and will take over. I have to stay calm.
Have a blessed week!
Yes, God can even help teach grammar. I love it! Praying you have a great week of teaching!
DeleteHee-whooo. Breathe. Just stay calm. I needed that today. Thanks, Melissa. I'm sooo looking forward to seeing you, Dee and so many others next week!
ReplyDeleteOh good, I'm glad it hit you where you needed it, Jeanne. Yeah, I feel like I've seen on many blogs lately or heard from many friends who are on the brink of freaking out with ACFW right around the corner. This verse seemed perfect. :)
DeleteHmm. Not sure if this is a warning ... or a potent of things to come? But just in case, I appreciate the advice. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHehehe, hopefully it's not a warning...but a comfort. I always feel a little "whoa, here comes another week" on Mondays. Whether it's just a silly to-do list or something big coming down the pike, it's awesome to me to know that I CAN stay calm because God has it all handled already... :)
DeleteWas that first one for me? Hehe. I think so!
ReplyDeleteYou know my struggles and so does God. Thanks for all your support, friend! Love the idea...just stay calm. I definitely don't do this naturally.
Linds, it is very possible you helped inspire today's post. :) Hehehe...but not just you...my own fluttery mindset also needed the calming thought. I love that I get to support and pray for you...just like you support and pray for me. :)
DeleteMtagg,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder as I started my Monday off with waking up late, my son sprained ankle and subsequent trip to the doctor. Did I mention a trip to the allergiest for myself. Allergic reaction to who knows what and a prescription for an epipen. Yeah, I think God's not just calming the storm, He's wiping out the Hurricane.
Blessings!
Alena T.
Oh goodness. What a start to your week, Alena. Praying for ya, friend. Just think, next week you'll get a break from "every day" life and get to focus on writing and MBT friends!
DeleteMelissa, I claimed this verse about 12 years ago when I was going through a difficult time. Mondays are always tough, but they are also full of promise...a new week, 7 days.
ReplyDeleteGlad the verse spoke to you when you needed it, Pat! You're right...a new week IS full of promise. I want to get better at seeing that rather than just my to-dos. :)
DeleteThanks for a wonderful way to kick off a Monday. With my to-do list growing, I have a sense of peace. I don't feel panicky about leaving in six days for a week. Everything will work out. What doesn't work out wasn't meant to happen.
ReplyDeleteI am leaning on God to help me submit my proposal before I leave for ACFW though. Oy.
"What doesn't work out wasn't meant to happen." I like that.
DeleteAnd you can do it on the proposal! You can do it! :)
